Once again, we are using the beds of men who have recently joined the ranks of the departed through our doing. This time, however, they almost took one of ours with them. There is nothing like singing a funeral dirge over the body of a man that has battled by your side to bring home the reality of being an adventurer. But, without men like Silwynn, like Merim, like Thelian or Beiruywn, and even like Cyrus...without men like that, willing to lay down their lives in the name of Good, what would the world be? I shudder to think. Fortunately, the gods were with us this night. Through their grace, we found a scroll that brought the elf back to our world once more, though not without cost. He now carries a scar even magic healing could not erase.
There is a drawing here, though it is more several drawings combined in to one. The first shows Silwynn laying on the ground, broken and lifeless. Rather then being gory, it focuses on capturing the volnerablility and fragilness of life at that moment. There are also drawings of each member of the party. Seamus kneeling on the ground, head bowed as a tear slips off the tip of his nose. Cyrus kneeling as well, grasping his talon. Thelian looking up at the sky, his arms raised in prayer. Merim clutching his blade with tears running freely down his cheeks. Beiruywn standing stoicly, his face blank but the grief can clearly be seen in his eyes. The final drawing is of Silwynn after he is brought back, his new scar drawn in stark relief.
It is almost time to break camp, but there is one more thing I must say. I'm not sure how you knew Becca was more then just a farm girl to me, Merim, but I suspect you must have read my journal as I slept. As the cat seems to be clawing at the bag, if not all the way out, I will tell you that I have my reasons for presenting myself to the group as a less intellegent clod then I actually am. Perhaps one day we can discuss it over an ale as you suggested. Until then, I will make my journal a bit easier for you to get to as long as you agree to keep what you find here to yourself. I do not give my trust easily, but I do not believe you will break it...
