In keeping with the pattern of the last flurry of posts in 2011, it is about time for the every-other-year update. I'm still around, with a toddler who will be 2 in a few months. At some point I would like to get an online pen and paper campaign going (or heck, maybe even a NWN or NWN2 campaign - I just bought a pack of about 10 D&D computer games from GOG.com for about $20). That is probably a good ways into the future, though.

If you ever delve into the NWN2 forums, you'll notice that the embedded screenshots from past sessions are broken. That happened when I upgrade the site to the latest version. I did go and upload all those screenshots into online Google+ albums. You can find those here.

Aside from that, the only Naeldor-related items I've taken care of that past couple of years has been to keep this site updated with the latest security and maintenance updates.

If any of you Neverwinter Nights 2 players are still around and check in here, you'll notice that this place looks drastically different. Up until now, the site was running on an outdated version of Joomla. I've upgraded the site to the most recent version, for the sake of security, and to get ready for a new online pen and paper campaign that is starting. In the process, I had to do away with the old theme. You'll probably also notice some broken links. Let me know if you do, although I might not be able to do anything about it without doing some heavy lifting.

Did I get your attention?  Would you like your character to live on when current campaign ends, whenever that might be?  This campaign setting originated 25+ years ago, and characters from my original 1st edition AD&D campaign are part of the fabric of the campaign.  I hope to use this setting in the future with Neverwinter Nights 3 and onward, and maybe with pen and paper again some day.  I'd like your characters to be part of the world fabric in the future, even if you are no longer playing those characters at that point in time.

I've often thought of starting a central repository of information, so that information about the world, including information about your characters, can be easily updated and augmented, and will be easily accessible in the future.  So, in that spirit, I've started the Naeldor wiki.  Although I may not add much to it until after this campaign ends due to time constraints, I invite all past and current players to contribute to the wiki with character information or otherwise.  You will find a list of the current characters on the Personality page, but the character links don't contain any information yet.  If you're interested in contributing to the wiki (with either your character information, or other info), let me know.  The wiki is not open to the public, but you are all welcome to an account.  Just ask, and I will send you account information, and a few sentences on how to add to the wiki.

In the past, we used the chat room here on the site if we needed real-time communication, such as when troubleshooting connection problems at game time.  I noticed recently that the chat room was offline, most likely as a result of my web host deciding that chat rooms are too server intensive.  I've gone ahead and embedded a Meebo chat room here on the site.  You can reach it by going to User Menu > Chat room in the menu bar, above.  The difference between this and the shoutbox in the sidebar is that the chat room is real time, while the shoutbox is not (i.e. the shoutbox will only show updated messages when the page refreshes, while the chat room doesn't require a page refresh). {mos_fb_discuss:14}

A major security update has been released for the forum package that powers this site. I've applied the update. There are still some tweaks to be done. Most obviously, I need to tweak the theme to get the colors in line with the rest of the site. That will come later in the week. Also, links from outside the forums will probably be broken for now. The forum should at least be useable for now.{mos_fb_discuss:14}

I think something got messed up when I had to restore the database a couple of days ago.  If you have trouble logging in, try clicking the  "Lost Password" link in the login area to go through the steps to set up a new password, as that worked for me.  Let me know if that doesn't work.   {mos_fb_discuss:14}

The forum is acting a bit strange. I've restored the database, which didn't fix it, so I'll have to dig in a little deeper. Hopefully I will get a chance before leaving on vacation.

UPDATE: Fixed. I had been getting a lot of spam via the application form (the form to apply for a spot in the campaign), so I had updated that to allow for captcha (one of these things where you have to do a math problem to submit the form). That evidently didn't play nice with the forum, so I've disabled the form for now. When we're ready to add a new player, I'll have to come up with a new solution. {mos_fb_discuss:14}

I'm changing some things under the hood on the site (pertaining particularly to permissions).  If you notice something that doesn't work, or if you find you can't access something, it means I clicked something I shouldn't have.  Shoot me a message or post in the forums, and I'll get it straightened out.

I've finished upgrading the site. There are a few issues:

1) The upgrade wiped out any forum signature you may have set up. You'll have to reenter it (User menu > My Profile > Update Your Profile (link on page) > Forum Settings tab

2) Deleting forum subscriptions and forum favorites in your profile is a bit wonky right now. I think you can delete them individually, but doing it all at once isn't working. Also, you'll notice some strange text. There is no fix available for this yet.

3) Quotation marks have been replaced with some code in old posts. I'm fixing these as I see them (hence you may see that I've edited one of your posts). This doesn't affect new posts.
