Slipping free of the guards, the gnome struts up to the High priest.
"I'm here investigating the fluctuations felt in the life cycle detected by our leading divination experts"
Spinning
his arms around madly, he almost manages to smash a gauntleted fist
into Simon's kneecap. Suddenly he points an accusatory finger towards
the ground. "The most recent, I'm told, originated right here, so I'm
investigating!"
He suddenly spins and points his finger at the
acolytes who held him. "And YOU" He says, practically screaming "how
dare you lay a finger on a representative of The Huntress!?!".
Stalking
over to Skotch, and almost tripping over his rob in the process, he
looks him in the eye "Finally, someone whose head isn't so high in the
air that they can't breathe. What do you know about this?".

*Watching from the shadows, Angelique studies the gnome's movements.
Unconsciously, she slides her dagger from its sheath and starts tracing
the scars on her arm.*

Skotch, who had been slowly chugging away at his flask ever since he
had to say goodbye to Sissy, turned to the gnome and stared at him a
bit. Finally, after swaying his head in and out trying to focus his
eyes and see who he was talking to clearly, he spoke:
"Wha?
Me? What're ye askin' me for? I don' even know why I'm still in dis
bloody place anyways. And I breathe just fine thank yer very much."
With
that last comment Skotch tried to go back to looking like he's doing
something important, but in reality, he's just fumbling with his
fingers, and failing horribly at twiddling his thumbs.

The Gnome almost faints due to the alchol on Skotch's breath. He
Atttempts to tug at the flask, quite probably to no avail.
"Drinking too much can lead to all kinds of problems" He says, a preaching tone creeping into his voice.
With that he spins, around and begins to eye Sissfus' body on the ground.
"Sooo..."
he says, lifting up an arm and then letting it drop with a dull *slap*
to the floor "I take it that this -isn't- a real body then?".

As the group prepares to continue Asia sits down off to the side and takes out her journal. She
is not sure what to make of the events, but only knows she is angry.
Angry over her groups actions, or lack there of regarding Siss's
departure from the group and this world. She did not take her anger
out on the group yet, at least not the real members of her group. These
new people tagging along with the group are her target of rage,
especially the uncaring little fool of a gnome. *nearly breaks her
inked quil pen writting the last sentence* He was at the temple when we
lost Siss, does he think to just jump in and fill Siss's spot with us.
Asia can't imagine that, but it appears the rest of the group is just
fine with it. Is my so called new family, the people that I care about
really this shallow. An hour after Siss is gone, they just continue on
their way as if nothing happened. It doesn't matter that it was a
borrowed body Siss was in, it was Siss that was our friend, not the
shell he was occupying. And he is gone, his spirit is gone from us, so
Siss is dead to us now, just as if that was his body and he died. He is
not coming back. No one offers a word in rememberance, no one wants to
continue our business the next day. In my village, of so called
Barbarians, when we lose a memeber of our family, we acknowledge them.
We have a feast and invite the village members that were close to him
or her. We eat and drink, wish them well on their next journey and talk
about them. We share the stories of them, to make us laugh, make us
cry, and to let there spirit know how much they mattered to us and that
they will be missed. And I have seen similar ceremonies at many
different villages, towns , and cities, of all different races. At the
least we could have gone to the Leprechann, had a toast to our departed
freind, and offered a few words about our travels with him. And
continued our journey after a night of stories. How can my friends just
continue on without skipping a step? Are my feelings misplaced? Are my
feelings wasted on them? Should I care at all? *sniffs* I can't imagine
not caring, but should I try. Would it be better to become cold and
distant, to be only as close as casual companions to my group? If I
died tomorrow, would taking my belongings be all the ceremony they hold
for me? Would they care at all? Or just find anyone who happens to be
available to fill my spot in the group? Maybe I should ask them? Though
based on what I've seen of their feelings tonight, I would only receive
blank stares in response. Or they might even laugh at the idea of
feeling bad when a member of the group dies. What does it matter to
them? If we lose Skotch, no problem, there plenty of drunk halflings
running around Spectaro, we'll just get another, Simon dead, ok no big
deal, plenty of strong Swordsman available for hire I'm sure, wizards
and sorcerors, hey no problem we'll pick up another Zas, there's a
school full of them here in the University District. *tears well up in
Asia's eyes at the thought of being so uncaring*. What else can I do?
How am I supposed to care about the people I call friends. When it
appears their meaning of friendship differs so greatly from mine.
*tries to hold back her tears* I don't want to shed tears for them over
this, as it appears no one would shed tears for me. I must stay angry.
I have to turn my hurt into rage and stay that way. Then they cannot
hurt my feelings, I won't have any. *Asia looks up as it appears the
group is starting to move again*, *her eyes settle on the the gnome*
who is the main target of her anger, as he is the most blatent insult
to the memory of Siss, trying to take his spot, actually picking up
items that were Siss's *anger rises, her writting quil breaks*, *Asia
tosses the broken quill into the bushes and stands up heading in the
direction of the group*.

Look on sadly as Asia writes, quite obviously picking up on her
emotions, Perem whispers to himself "Such sadness in a childe of
nature, I shall have to do something, yes! Sharra give me strength for
this task, but she is a wild one. Later, Perem, do it later."
Walking
a few meters away from the group, he kneels on the ground and draws his
Katana from it's sheath. He lays it across his legs, and place shis
hands on each end of the weapon. Chanting softly, in an unknown
language, Perem appears to ener a state of trance. Wisps of orange
flame flickering across the blade.
Rising to his knees, he holds
the Katana vertically in front of him as it bursts into flame...His
eyes reflect the light as he stares fanatically at the blade.
"Justice....." whispers to himself "For the sage, justice will be
bought down....the hunt begins"

Perem sits out in the hallway of the inn, sniffling quietly to himself.
"Why don't they like you, Perem, why? You only try to serve The Lady,
to do her work...."
Slipping
his katana from it's sheat, he begins to use an oil stone to smooth a
small nick from the blade. The work seems to calm him a little, but a
solitary tear rolls down his cheek, and splashes onto the floor.

Asia comes back up the stairs of the Inn after getting her mug of
water. It's late, and most everyone is asleep except for a worker in
the kitchen cleaning pots and pans, so the Inn's lamps are almost all
off. She reaches the top of the stairs and rounds the corner. *her foot
hits something on the floor and she trips falling forward, and just
manages to stay upright with most of her water still in the mug*, *she
turns and looks down*, "damnit Perem!! what are doing sitting on the
floor in the dark?", "your lucky I came around the corner before Silk
did". "sitting in the dark in the hallway outside our rooms is not the
wisest choice","we almost always have someone skulking around in the
dark who has been hired to kill us", "you need to be careful, one of us
could wind up blasting you with a spell and asking questions later".
*looks down at him*, "so, what are you doing out here anyway?", "and I
can see that your sharpening your sword, so no smart ass comments",
"why are you sitting on the floor, in the dark , in the hallway?".
*Asia walks to the opposite side of the hallway directly acrossed from
Perem and sits down. *stretches her hand out, and Silk bounds over as
he knows that is the signal to come over and sit*, *silk lays down next
to Asia with his eyes on Perem while she pets his coat*, "we need to
talk anyway Perem." "Now, we might as well get to it", "I have a real
problem with your actions up to this point Perem", "you're wreckless
and careless, and only seem to think of yourself when you speak or act
out", "you put the group in danger time and time again through your own
rash actions and unchecked words". " We just lost a member of our
group,as you know, you were at the temple. I'm not ready to lose
another of my family here due to your unthinking actions.""do you
understand so far?", "now, if you want to spread the word of Sharra,
and right every wrong you see, fine got do it, but do it on your own.
Not as a member of this group". "we see things everyday that anger us,
but there is only so much we can do sometimes. The safety of the group
comes first. Sure, if we are in a place where we know we have the
advantage, and we want to take action against some people for whatever
reason, then yes we do it. But when we don't know the strength of our
enemy, we need to wait, research and scout the area, and come up with a
plan. If we all flew off the handle without thinking like you always
do, we would not be alive today. Our group survives and excels by being
smart in our actions. I would like to have you stay with the group
Perem, but you need to keep your emotions in check. The gambling hall,
yes the rooster fights are horrible, you don't need to tell me Perem, I
can feel their anger and pain through my gift of nature. But I was not
in a position to attack and put the group in danger because of my own
feelings. Maybe later, I can see if the group wants to take a little
side trip there and raze it to the gorund and set the animals free, but
that is a decision for the group to make. If they don't want to, and I
still feel I need to do something. I will go and do it on my own,
seperate from the group. The group is my family Perem, maybe you don't
understnad that. If you are with us long enough, you will be part of my
family also, and I'll do what I can to protect my family from anything
that threatens them. Just like I am doing now. You need to stop
thinking about your individual needs and think of the good of the
group, that is if you wish to stay with us. We don't like many of the
people we need to do business with, but you can't insult them and start
fights with them Perem. You have only just started to tag along with
our group, so please do not assume to speak for the group when we are
doing business. If you have a question, or some information to
contribute, please do so, but do not shout your disdain and opinions at
these people when we are dealing with them. Don't start fights or do
things that will endanger the group. This is what it means to be part
of a group Perem. And when that group is together long enough, they are
your family. If you cannot keep your temper and emotions in check, and
insist on acting before thinking, then you need to go be on your own
and leave our group be. The smart choice would be to stay with our
group, depending on if you can or cannot feel you can think instead of
act. You will not last long on your own acting the way you do. You will
get yourself into a situation will won't escape from. At the least you
get yourself thrown in the Spectaro Jail for mouthing off to someone
you shouldn't. Anyway that is the end of my lecture Perem. So stay if
you can work WITH the group, or leave if you can't. Those are your
choices." *Asia sips her water while petting Silk, and studies Perem*.

Looks from Asia to the giant kitty and back again. Sheathing his sword,
he smiles at Asia and says "I can try, certainly...I should not let my
temper get the best of me all the time I will...think about...what I
can do to fit in, although I've never been one to have
many....friends". With that he stands up and walks back to his room,
throwing a quick glance over his shoulder before shutting the door.

As the group stands in the desert outside the stairs leading back into
the Chasm of Lost Souls, there is a strange swirling, followed by a
sucking noise. Suddenly, in a poof of smoke, a robed figure appears. He
has crazed eyes, and is, or was at one time, human. He has a human
face, but the tail of a lizard, and his two skinny legs appear to be
the rear legs of a goat.
"Zastaph,
my friend," he exclaims with a cackle. "Come, come! You are needed! You
must see my new teleport spell, and give some suggestions for
improvements!"
You believe that you can see a look of surprise
and concern on Zastaph's face, as if he has experienced one too many of
this stranger's new spells in the past.
"The spell can teleport
me, and a companion, without any chance of error! All that is required
is a suitable offering of something, or someone, to return to our spot!
Of course, the spell seems to have a mind of its own, and picks what it
will to stand in our place! Perhaps you can help me tweak the spell to
control what that offering might be!" The stranger explains this with a
look of wild glee on his face.
The stranger waves his hands
about, shouts a few unintelligble words, casts some foul smelling dung
onto the ground, and then takes hold of Zastaph's arm.
A loud
bang occurs, followed by a fog of thick billowing smoke. When the smoke
clears, Zastaph is gone. Interestingly, though, some of your
companions, such as Sol, that had been left behind, now stand where
Zast and the wizard stood. Of course, the foul smelling dung now lies
there as well, smoking and steaming in the aftermath of the spell.
Your
companions look a bit puzzled, as if they are unable to comprehend how
they arrived where they did. Perhaps their appearance in place of
Zastaph and the stranger was the aftermath of the strange wizard's
spell -- the uncontrollable offerring, or replacement, of which he
spoke.

OOC- I don't know if Perem will make it Wednesday or not, which is why
I left the description somewhat open-ended. For those who rejoin the
group in later weeks, perhaps it can be that the crazy wizard is trying
to return Zast to the group and tweak his spell a bit, and he isn't
getting it quite right.

Stomping around the campsite, Perem suddenly stalks up to the group with his hands on his hips.
"I am -not- fighting that lizard again! Not unless we have a solid plan...and even then"
Looking at Asia and Angelique, the leaders of the 'lets fight the dragon' squad, he squares his shoulders, he asks "well?"

Perem Perem, aren't you paying attention. This is the real Angie, with
her soul. She wants to get out of here in one piece. Now
Perem, did you notice the Dragon disapper? Listen to me, because I know
Dragons, remember I'm a Druid. Blue Dragons are deathly affraid of
Gnomes wearing helmets with antlers on them! That's why it ran away
Perem, it was frieghtened of you. So, all you need to do is put on your
antler helmet, run into the room, and start jumping up and down in
front ofthe dragon. It will be paralyzed with fear!!! That's when the
rest of us will attack it from the sides and behind. It will be over in
a flash!! *turns to others and whispers* ok guys, when that
dragon is chasing Perem around the room, since it will be anything but
affraid, we will rush in and hit it with all of our long distance
attacks, arrows, crossbows, spells, unload everything on it. Hopefully
it will be dead, if not, it will be busy chasing Perem still and we can
get back into the hallway. Perem is pretty quick, he'll get back out also I think. Well, what to you think? *shrugs with a quizzical expression*

"With a view on draongs like that, one does wonder how you survived for
so long as a Druid in the first place...soul or no"
With that he rolls his eyes and stomps off to his seat a the pile of dirt.

A crash is heard in the distance, and in due course, the large doors to
the throne room are pushed open by....a suit of ornate armor, walking
by itself?!?
"Fascinating......."
Oh yay, it's Perem...
The
back of the suit of armor splits open, and out slips the wily gnome, he
dodges out of the way, as the armor falls to the floor, but manages to
get his robe tangled as he darts away, sprawling messily on the floor
he looks up sheepishly
"Did I miss anything of importance? Thost dratted Drow held me up getting here, my sincere apologies"
He bows to all present.....

Asia barely notices Perem stumbling into the room. The events that have
taken place have taken an emotional toll on her. She half mumbles to
herself, and half tries to calm herself by writting in her journal. Running
into Higner, a brother she didn't know she had. To find out that her
Mother was maybe alive and being held prisoner. The hope swelled inside
her, she might have a family again. Not that she didn't have her
adoptive families in the TeinShen tribe of barbarians. But a real
family of her own blood. Only to have the hope and joy ripped out of
her. Finding her Mother was not only not a prisoner, but wife to the
evil wizard Zendrick. And she had planned the attack on the caravan
that left her and her brother for dead, but in truth, alive. She had
murdered Asia's father. *sniffs and wipes eyes*. To see Simon cut
her in half with his blasted sword. She didn't have any answers, still
clinging to any possible hope that the evil wizard had enchanted her
Mother, she chose to ressurect her. And she feigned confusion and joy,
and then fled through some portal. *wipes her cheeks* Now, I need to
hunt her down and watch her die again, this time by my own hands. But
we need to try and salvage Spectaro first. We entered a portal and
found ourselves back home, but a different home. Overrun with zombies,
and ....drow. *Asia sits on the floor in the back of the room, head in her hands, knees pulled up close to her body*. And
what of this she thinks. The drow, who had been sealed in the
underdark. I blasted that Lintnaer out of it's pedastal, and after that
it was not hard for Perem to maybe activate it when he picked it up.
But, but I was the one who destroyed the pedastal it was locked on. Is
that why the sky is red, and the drow long ago sealed away, have been
able to return? *sobs into her hands* I had a part in opening the hole
to the underdark...... my Mother was a murderer, an evil sorceress....
She had been with Zendrick all these years, inflicting death and misery
upon how many innocent victims? I should never have left the mountains.
I was better not knowing who my Mother was, and is. And would not have
had anything to do with unleashing the underdark on the world. What
else might come out of that opening in the dead of night? There are
more than drow down below. I have read of some of the things that lurk
down there, the beholders, the mindflyers, the evil dwarfs....what else
might come through that opening? How many have died in Spectaro
already? How can I hope to make amends for this? All I have ever tried
to do is good, and look what has become of that. *tears roll down her
cheeks as the emotional battle overwhelms her*

Simon was not having a good day. He kept his eyes off Asia, not needing
any more glares from her. Ok, so he killed her mother. It wasn't like
he meant to. The woman was actually stupid enough to attack him. And
usually when someone attacks him, he kills them, not pause and go 'Oh
wait, this is someone's mother.' Then
there was the killing of those two Swordsmen. The boss wasn't gonna
like losing those guys. Yep, all in all, Simon was having a lousy day.
But hey, maybe Asia finally forgave him.
"*cough* Hey Asia,
sorry about the whole cutting your mother in half," said Simon as he
glanced at her. There, simple, quick, and effective. Women liked it
when you did wussy stuff like apologize.

*Asia glances up at Simon*, *wipes away tears*, "Thanks Simon, I know
you didn't mean to","your instincts are just honed to perfectly, you
just reacted without thinking". *Asia's smiles her most sincere and blinks away some tears as she makes eye contact with Simon*
*thinks
to herself, silly macho sword swingers. A big smile, some eye contact, a
stupid complement on their prowess and they think everything is ok
again, completely off guard and unsuspecting now. Amazing men survive
at all. The stubborness and a grudges dwarves can hold onto are
legendary, but not even close the grudge a woman can hold. *rumages
through her back pack*, hmm, gigantic spider poison, hmm no, *grins*,
closes her hand around a small red vile, hmm, Sword Spider Poison,
*giggles*, I like the irony of that, Sword Spider Poison for a
Swordsman, hmmmm. *grabs another vile, hmm, rolls them all around in
her hand, knowing that she has long been immune to all poisons* *thinks,
well, we'll see, maybe won't ever need these. She was bad afterall, but
still, couldn't have known that upfront. Puts viles back in backpack*.
*watches Simon as he walks off, smiles again when he gave her a look
back over his shoulder*
