10/26/05 - Renewal, part 3

After restocking in Thargin’s Falls, you approached Theo about sailing you to Ardon. He agreed to take you there, if you would rescue his crew from the pirates who had kidnapped them. You agreed, and Thargin docked by a hidden cave.

You entered, and found an Randric, an elderly man who was near death. He explained that he was a druid of the goddess Sharra. He carried the Moonstone Gem of the Hunt, which imbued one follower of Sharra in each generation with a druid’s power. The power was transferred near the death of each druid, in the very cave where you stood, to the one chosen to inherit the gem. Unfortunately for Randric, the man who had come with him to the island, and who was to inherit the Moonstone Gem of the Hunt, had grown ill and died after landing on the island.

Randric was initially distraught, but then proposed a solution, albeit one he did not seem to think ideal – instead of the Moonstone Gem being forgotten as a legend with his death, he would pass it to Sissfus, who also followed Sharra. After deep consideration, Sissfus agreed. The gem was thus transferred, a conflagration of magic exploded around him, and Sissfus seemed remade in your eyes. Before sitting and fading to death’s door, Randric looked at Sissfus with eyes that seemed to beg, “prove the wisdom of my choice.” He then died, and the rest of the group left Sissfus momentarily so that Sissfus could tend to him.

After a deep breath, the group then proceeded through the cave tunnel, and fought the pirates’ bookkeeper, who turned out to be a retired monk. You then found most of Theo’s fishermen being held prisoner in a cell. They let it be know, though, that one of their own had been taken above, to the surface. You went there, and found a hut and the pirate leader, Torpo. He fled the hut to the outdoors, and, when some of you followed, you got a bit spread out. Several horrific battles ensued with Torpo and the other pirates that almost spelled the death of some of the party. However, in the end you prevailed, and rescued the remaining fisherman (but not before he died an agonizing death on one of Skotch’s traps, and then was brought back to life by the grace of Miguel).

Returning to the ship, Theo then sailed you to Ardon, a journey of about a day. You have now stepped off of the ship onto the docks. Around you, you can see a city of wide open spaces, fountains, and interesting architecture. The garb of some of the people, consisting of flowing robes, and, in some cases, what almost seem to be draped sheets, seems odd to some of you.
