As the main group headed west towards the Swamp of the Dead, the party was rejoined first by Wilks, and then by Lindalas. As you traveled, you came across the camp of Yukan, the trader from the north. There, you found his dead huskies, their skulls split open by what appeared to be a club. Then, miles further to the west, you found Yukan’s bloody body clutching a club, and covered with axe wounds.
After continuing on and bantering with a roving band of gypsies, you finally came to the outskirts of the swamp. There, you met a terrified dwarf, who spoke of Sergeant Lockfist going mad, and killing the rest of the dwarves in his band. Piecing events together from what the dwarf told you, you suspected that a Ravisher possessed Yukan, and killed the huskies. Then, the Ravisher moved from Yukan to Lockfist, killing Yukan. The dwarf told you that the Ravisher headed into the swamp, with the ranger, Falmore, pursuing him.
In the swamp, you came across some fanatics who didn’t quite seem to know what they were worshipping, only that they were awaiting the coming of a deity, and that one of the signs would be the return of one of orcish blood, wearing the symbol of Trianda. Of course they viewed Miguel as this one, and felt that you would clear the way to the temple, which had recently become blocked to them. They spoke of making sacrifices at the temple, and, to your horror, you learned that when individuals joined this cult, they sacrificed their children to a “Lurker” in the temple.
You continued north, looking for Lockfist and for Falmore. You found Lockfist’s body outside a cave in the swamp. In the cave, you found Falmore. You had your suspicions, fearing that he was possessed by a Ravisher. Cautiously, you followed him in, purportedly to hunt the Ravisher. Killing many lizardfolk, you finally came to a cavern where Lindalas recovered some ashes. There, Falmore revealed his true identity, demanding that Lindalas turn over the ashes. Instead, Wilks told “Falmore” that if he attacked, that the party would cast the ashes into the water of the cave. The ravisher, with an angry hiss, then fled. However, in his anger he triggered Skotch’s traps, and then a battle ensued, with Skotch and Sissfus slaying the body of Falmore.
You then cleared out the rest of the caves, and now stand in the swamp once again. The temple, the Lurker, and the clerics of the Faceless One are out there somewhere. And so, perhaps, is the Ravisher, biding his time.
