In Deeprock Hall, you found a friend. Trellena, a bearded female dwarf, explained to you that the High Thane had been acting strangely ever since the arrival in Deeprock of a man named Simick and other men. Oddly, High Thane Dorn accepted Simick as his advisor, and pulled his men away from the gates to the Upperdark in order to muster them for war with the elves. Trellena told you that Simick promised his men would guard the gates to the Upperdark.

You learned that Dorn had given the forge you needed for Alantha Chath to Sebo, Lord of Illusions, as payment for a lost bet. Sebo is the leader of the deep gnomes.

Wilks, with his smooth tongue, persuaded High Thane Dorn to allow you to enter the Upperdark, under the guise that you would try to win back the forge. At the gates to the Upperdark, you found slain dwarven sentries, and then encountered a large band of acolytes of the Faceless One. You killed them, and then entered the Upperdark. There, you encountered a duergar sentry, and a group of duergar and Faceless One acolytes who were evidently working together. On the sentry, you found a note that suggested that someone had orchestrated the tension between the elves and dwarves, in order to get the dwarves away from the gates to the Upperdark. As you stand over the bodies of the duergar and the acolytes, you wonder what that could mean.
