8/24/05 - Renewal, Part 1

Your restless days in Soraerdyl came to end when Wilks walked in the door of the d’Ebo home, much to your surprise. Shortly thereafter, Nebril Jr’endlen, the village leader, entered. With him was Sissfus, which was perhaps an even greater surprise.

Nebril was angry when he entered, showing you a bloody axe. He found the axe in the head of a scout he had sent to Rockland, home of the dwarves, to seek aid against the demons. Tensions had been high between the dwarves of Rockland and the elves of Elvenwood, with the elves closing their borders to the dwarves in retaliation for what the elves perceived to be exorbitant prices for ores and metals.

Before addressing what to do with the dagger, Nebril spoke of some ancient prophecies in the land. He said that the prophecy stated that the curing of the dagger foretold the coming of a greater evil. He thought the dagger would play some role in the unfolding of this, but could say whether it would be for good or evil. Ultimately, he felt that the dagger would be used to combat the evil, but he could not be certain.

Nebril said the prophecy was three-fold, and there were two other signs that would foretell the coming of a great evil. The second sign was the reemergence of an order long since wiped from Naeldor. The third was that the first of the three Ravishers will walk the land again. He explained that the Ravishers, also known as the Uklar’rin, were the three minions of a long dead deity. He said that they could take the bodies of the living or the dead.

Finally, Nebril noticed Miguel’s holy symbol, and said that one of Trianda’s followers were said to be destined to play an important role in the prophecy, but he could not be sure how. He then downplayed all the prophecy’s indicating that like many such tales, some would certainly come to pass just by pure chance, while much would never happen.

Turning to the business of the dagger, he noted that, ironically, the dagger would need to be taken to the land of the dwarves, to Deeprock Hall in Rockland. In Deeprock Hall, or below it, lay a forge that could be used to fuse the gem to the pommel of the dagger.

You thus set off for Rockland. After several days, you encountered a jolly trader from the frozen north, Yukan Grath. You bought his pelts as disguises, and also to pose as pelt traders.

Continuing into the mountains, you came across a dwarven band morning over a dwarven scout party. You agreed to take the corpses to Deeprock Hall.

Along the way, you were attacked by mountain giants, but safely reached the gates of Deeprock Hall. With the dwarves’ suspicious eyes upon you, you ponder your next move.
